Boards with an enforced AI policy rate their own effectiveness 32 points higher than boards with none. That’s the sharpest finding in OnBoard’s 2026 Board Effectiveness Survey, and it’s what separates the boards pulling ahead: a written policy that tells directors how to use the AI they’ve already adopted.
This fireside chat features a conversation between Heather Cooprider, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Brand, and Digital at OnBoard, who led the charge on the survey, and Rob Kunzler, OnBoard’s Chief Marketing Officer. Together they will cover the results of our sixth annual Board Effectiveness Survey and will discuss where AI is headed in the boardroom, and where it still falls short.
Confidence in board security dropped 15 points this year, the steepest move anywhere in the survey, even as adoption hit a new high. Heather and Rob dig into why those two numbers are moving in opposite directions. They’ll also unpack a number that hasn’t moved in six years: 87% of respondents still report at least one ineffective member on their board.
If you don’t know where your board sits on the AI Maturity Curve, this is where you find out.
