Meet The Speakers

Anne Murdoch, Senior Advisor, College Leadership

Anne is Senior Advisor for College Leadership at ASCL, having been General Secretary of the Principals Professional Council and, for 17 years, a Principal and Chief Executive of a Further Education College. Anne qualified as a Primary School teacher following a degree in Social Sciences. Her PhD, in Education, was followed by work, as a University Researcher, on a project about fostering and adoption. Anne joined an FE college as a teacher, then moved to leadership roles and to Principal and CEO. Anne has an MBA and is Chair of Governors at a school, and has published articles and books on education and allied subjects.

Dr. Roger Barker, Director of Policy & Corporate Governance

Dr Barker previously served as the IoD’s Head of Corporate Governance. He is a UK Member of the European Economic and Social Committee (the EU advisory body), Honorary Associate at the Centre for Ethics and Law at University College London and a visiting lecturer at Saïd Business School, Oxford, and Cass Business School, London.

Dr. Barker is the holder of a doctorate from Oxford University and the author of numerous books and articles on corporate governance and board effectiveness.
