What is Cronyism?

Cronyism is a type of favoritism in which a person in power offers employment or favors to friends or those in their network – regardless of their qualification or merit. In exchange, the recipient offers their blind loyalty. Cronyism is a corrupt practice that should be avoided. Board directors should be elected or appointed based on skills, experience, and background – rather than having a connection to the organization or its leadership.
